


Tom Mann
Dr Mann is the Managing Director of DHF ltd. His experience includes Chief Executive roles in The National Health Service and Private Sector Healthcare organisations. He has worked for and consulted in acute care and mental health services, in procurement, delivery and strategy; in the voluntary and private sectors; for UK businesses and for businesses from the USA, and Europe.
Tom Mann qualified as a doctor from London University and worked in Glasgow and Manchester before moving to North London. After becoming a senior partner in General Practice, he moved to Whitehall as a policy lead for the Department of Health. There he worked on NHS reforms for the Secretary of State, Kenneth Clarke.
Tom held posts in policy and performance management until his appointment as Head of Public Health Division for England. In that role he led the DH's Clinical Governance programme and devised the BMJ's Clinical Evidence publication. He moved back the NHS as Regional Director of Performance for North West England. Later he joined Bolton & Wigan Health Authority as Chief Executive. He led major service reorganisations across Greater Manchester including Children's, Mental Health, Cancer Services and Heart Disease. He left the NHS to become Director of Strategy for Inventures, a private/public partnership enterprise.
Tom moved to the Commercial Directorate (of the DoH) where he became Director of the National Implementation Team and helped set up ISTCs (Independent Sector Treatment Centres). After successfully completing the first ISTC contracts, he left the Department of Health and set up DHF Ltd. with a small team of experts. Realising the need to monitor the quality of ISTCs, Tom set up a quality monitoring framework for the DoH, but this was not maintained after he left.
In 2005 he took a secondment to be CEO of Capio UK. He was made Senior Vice President of the international group in Gothenburg. With Private Equity backing, he and his team attempted a £700m leveraged buyout of the UK Company. In 2007, he returned to Management Consultancy with DHF. DHF has most recently been involved in hospital efficiency improvement, advising on strategic investments and developing tariffs for specialist services.
Dr Thomas Wherry
Anaesthetist and director of a for-profit surgical centre in the USA. Dr Wherry specialises in all aspects of perioperative care improvement. He is highly skilled in working with physicians and surgeons in process improvement and quality improvement. Dr Wherry has extensive experience of working with us on hospital surgical teams in the UK helping them to increase day surgery rates, shorten in theatre turnaround times and improve clinical outcomes for perioperative care.
Guy Thomas
Guy is a Chartered Project Manager (MRICS) and has an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in NHS Project Direction. Guy has worked at a senior level within the NHS and as a consultant to the Department of Health and major healthcare providers. Guy has an extensive track record of developing and delivering innovative business solutions and new business opportunities for both public and private sector clients in the healthcare market.
Nicola Yendle
Nicola is a Chartered Accountant (ACA). Nicola uses her analytical skills to assist our clients in the development of their procurement strategies and their business offerings and has worked on high profile projects including a major procurement for the Department of Health.
Mark Charny
Qualified as a doctor and obtained a PhD in identifying patients most likely to benefit from health interventions. He was a senior medical manager in the NHS before working at the DoH on clinical effectiveness, clinical guidelines and needs assessment. He became Director of the National Centre for Clinical Audit, before setting up Translucency which supports clients in making the strongest possible business cases in the UK, in the EU and in the US.
Rob Douthwaite
An expert in Clinical Process Redesign with an extensive track record of success in the USA and UK , working in the public private and voluntary sectors. Rob has improved the cost effectiveness of hospitals, ambulatory centres, NHS treatment Centres and ISTCs. He is a qualified nurse with many years of experience as a theatre nurse, as a head of theatres and as a hospital manager.
Andrew Holt
Our lead for Facilities Management and has worked in NHS Trusts as a Director of FM before becoming a Director of Facilities at the private Hospital Group Capio. He brings detailed knowledge and experience of realistic solutions to practical problems of improving the fabric of health care units. He is a project manager and has led IT teams and managed CAPEX programmes in the independent sector.
Mark Kelly
Chartered Accountant and senior General Manager at Director of a leading FTSE 100 company. Mark has a broad experience in the financial services sector, with a proven track record of successful delivery of P & L and market leading business growth. Versatile with strong commercial, financial and communication skills, leading teams at the highest level with specific strengths in start-up businesses.
Gwenno McCormack
Expert statistician with outstanding skills in analysis and interpretation of the most complex data. Gwenno advises a number of household names on logistics and operational strategies and has worked with the health sector data in the NHS and for a leading private care-services company.

DHF employs a small team of graduate analysts who work entirely in the health care sector. They support the work of the consultants and underpin the work on data so as to minimise costs for the clients.

A national expert on health systems having worked in the NHS at a senior level, Central Government and the Third sector in senior positions (Director, Non-Executive Director, Consultant in Public Health and Clinical Epidemiology).
Nigel Burns
Managed large operations for Multi-National organisations before becoming a director of an International Management Consultancy. Starting his own consultancy, he implemented operational improvements and Business Process Re-engineering for a number of ‘Blue chip’ clients, including the NHS.
